2007 Year in Review
On September 1, 2007 VisitGreeneIN.com was officially redirected to GreeneCountyIndiana.com where a completely modernized and exciting new site laid. The new site, created by two 18 year olds, Charles Garwood and Kegan Inman, was jam packed full of information about Greene County Indiana and its attractions, events, news and more. The site featured a photo gallery full of over 3000 Greene County Indiana pictures, scanned historical documents and newspaper articles.
The site was an instant hit boasting over 8000 visits a month and growing. The turnout of user comments, suggestions and submitted content has also been excellent the last few months. Citizens of Greene County Indiana have been really supportive of the project that we have been working on to promote Greene County, its citizens, its tourism and its opportunities. We also have received a few monetary donations to assist in the upkeep and further expansion of the site and appreciate every one of those.
The year 2007 was a really big year for GreeneCountyIndiana.com but we are promising that 2008 will be an even bigger year. Already in progress are several new features, some of which have been announced, some are to remain a secret, some will be improvements to current features and some will be re-releases of previous website features.
Among the features that we are releasing to the public currently is the webcam project. We are already working on securing two webcam locations, one in a place that nobody else could easily get a webcam into. The other we have been working on for some time but it will soon come to its final resting place and be online.
A feature that we are re-releasing in a new and improved form from our old website is Greene County’s original Kid’s Corner. We are not releasing again with cheesy java games or boring old mazes and print out games but we are working on a plan to really interest youth in Greene County and to teach them a few things about their county in the process.
We will continue to improve on our photo gallery and plan on taking a 2008 Greene County Picture tour to add even more images. We already have in our photo gallery over 3600 images and just recently downsized them all for easily internet loading. We take pictures almost monthly of the Tulip Trestle and are always added things to our photo gallery along with other images, so keep an eye out for new categories and images.
Those are about the only secrets that we will reveal to everyone at this time but if you keep checking back to the site from time to time, you will continue to see new features appear and current ones change to continue to promote and grow Greene County Indiana.
