Making Sure Your Voice Is Heard

Dear Friend,

As your Representative in Congress, one of my most important responsibilities is listening to and ensuring 8th District Hoosiers’ voices are heard in Washington. Sometimes the best way to do that is to bring the people in Washington to you. So earlier this week, I hosted a telephone town hall with House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller (CA) and local teachers and administrators to discuss reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. Chairman Miller is responsible for writing the bill.

8th District teachers and administrators live daily with the policies this bill put in place, and they understand the unique challenges Hoosier students face. It’s important for people in Washington to hear directly from Hoosiers about what policies work and what we need to improve to provide the best education to Indiana students.

During the call, Chairman Miller provided a brief overview of his committee’s efforts at overhauling education policy and answered questions directly from teachers and administrators.

As the Education and Labor Committee considers changes to this education initiative, I will be listening to and collecting comments and concerns from 8th District teachers, administrators and parents to help shape this legislation. You can share your views on this and other issues at the 8th District Online Office.

Sincerely,

Brad Ellsworth
