Waterman: Budget Committee approves funding for Vincennes University

Funds will be used to renovate science laboratories

(STATEHOUSE) -  State Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn) announced today the State Budget Committee’s approval of $2 million for renovation of science laboratories at Vincennes University.

“I’m pleased the Budget Committee approved this much-needed funding for Vincennes to update its science facilities,” Waterman said. “We need to make sure all Hoosier students have top-notch facilities.”

Waterman said work on the renovations to the McCormick Science building, which was constructed in 1977, could begin late this month and be completed early this fall. Plans include updating the existing ventilation system and modernizing lab workstations to accommodate current laboratory applications and instructional practices, university officials said.

Vincennes University - Indiana’s first institution of higher learning - is one of the oldest in the country and was founded by President William Henry Harrison, Waterman said.

Waterman serves Senate District 39, which includes Clay, Greene, Knox, Daviess, Owen, Sullivan and Vigo Counties.
