Waterman: State to invest $19 million in new trails

Project in Vigo County to receive funding

(STATEHOUSE) – Outdoor enthusiasts in Vigo County will have more opportunities to enjoy nature thanks to a $19 million investment in trails just announced by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn), said.

According to Waterman, a new trail in Vigo County is on the list of projects the IDNR has approved for funding.

“Expanding opportunities for Hoosiers to enjoy the great outdoors is a great idea and a great investment in our future,” Waterman said.

Waterman said $900,000 has been allocated to create the Historic Collett Park Pathway, a 1.6 mile portion of the National Road Heritage Trail, which will connect Terre Haute’s trail system with Indiana State University and downtown Terre Haute.

Waterman serves Senate District 39, which includes Clay, Greene, Knox, Daviess, Owen, Sullivan and Vigo Counties.
