Goosepond Fish and Wildlife Areas
Upland Game and Migratory Gamebird Hunting
(Rabbit, Quail, Woodcock and Snipe) at Goose Pond FWA
The 2007-08 Hunting and Trapping Guide indicates that there will be a drawing for upland game hunting at GPFWA each Friday at 8:30AM. That is incorrect. An upland game drawing (either standby or open) will take place each Saturday (not Friday) at 8:30AM from November 10th through January 30th, 2008.
Each reserved upland game hunt at GPFWA is a two day hunt (Saturday & Sunday). A successful draw will enable the hunting party to hunt their chosen unit for both days of their hunt.
The reserved hunts are November17-18, December 1-2, December 15-16, December 29-30 and January 12-13. Reservations must be claimed before 8:30AM on the first day of the hunt. A standby drawing, to fill unclaimed reservations, will take place promptly at 8:30AM on November 17, December 1, December 15, December 29 and January 12.
The regularly scheduled open hunt dates are November 10-11, November 24-25, December 8-9, December 22-23, January 5-6, January 16, January 19-20, January 23, January 26-27 and January 30. The regularly scheduled open drawings will take place at 8:30AM on the first day (Saturday) of each hunt. Please note that the Wednesday rabbit hunts (January 16, 23 and 30th) are one day hunts.
Depending on the outcome of the 2007 Fall Covey Count at GPFWA, there may be additional open drawings held at 8:30AM each Wednesday during quail season. These hunts, if held, will be one day hunts. Hunters are urged to contact GPFWA at (812) 659-9901 to confirm each Wednesday draw during quail season.
