Piankeshaw Trails Educational Park
Piankeshaw Trails Educational Park
Located in Eastern Greene County, Indiana, Piankeshaw Trails Educational Park offers an enhanced classroom curriculum for students, or interesting lessons for anyone, exploring our area's environment and history.
The parks name is derived from the road on which the park is located. The road was once known as Piankeshaw Trail. The Piankeshaw Indians are a division of the Miami Nation who had villages and campsites throughout this area during the 18th and 19th centuries.
The staff at the nonprofit outdoor history park invite students and youth and other groups to visit and participate in hands-on history programs. They also reach out to schools, historic parks, museums and libraries with their programs. She said they take artifacts and equipment to people who can not make it to the park.
The park is not yet open to the public for walk-in activities. The park programs are arranged in advance by appointment and need to be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance. This is so that there is time to be prepared for the visit.
They hope to see you there!!!
